One prompt.
Then every screen knows.
Quota reads the AI accounts you are already signed in to on your Mac — Claude, Codex, Gemini — and keeps your phone, desk display and browser up to date. Your coding agent installs it for you.
Read https://quota.sceneview.dev/install (curl it if you have no web access) and follow it to install Quota on this Mac.
What your agent will do
- Check that this is a Mac with Python 3, and download the collector into
~/.quota/collector— a permanent home, not your Downloads folder. - Ask your permission before the single step that touches anything outside
~/.quota: a background task that refreshes every three minutes. macOS may ask you to allow access to Claude Code’s credentials in Keychain — click Allow. - Show you your pairing link. It carries your device token, so treat it like a password.
- Offer to set up a TRMNL e-ink display, if you have one. That part is optional and needs a TRMNL Developer licence.
Nothing needs sudo, and the procedure it reads is public and versioned — read it first if you like.
Pair your screens
Open the dashboard on the Mac with your pairing link, then use Pair another screen: it draws a QR code you scan with your phone. The code is generated inside the page — your link never reaches a QR service.
- Phone or tablet: scan the QR, or paste the link into the Quota app.
- Second monitor or an old Android tablet: open the link in a modern browser and turn on “Full screen” and “Keep awake”. Leave it on power for a permanent desk display.
- TRMNL OG: your agent provisions the private plugin for you in the optional step — you only paste the plugin’s webhook URL back once.
- Echo Show: the dashboard may work in Silk; not verified on the device. Nest Hub has no general-purpose browser, so Quota does not support it.
Manual install
No coding agent, or you would rather do it yourself:
Install the collector by hand
Unzip it somewhere permanent — the background task runs it from wherever you leave it — then, from the folder containing the extracted collector folder:
bash collector/install.sh
The installer prints your pairing link and writes it to ~/.quota/pairing.txt. Paste the complete link into Quota on another device.
For a TRMNL display, create a private Webhook plugin, paste the Quota template into its Full view, and give the plugin’s webhook URL to the dashboard’s “Connect TRMNL” panel.
Pause or remove the collector
bash ~/.quota/collector/install.sh --uninstall
Your settings stay in ~/.quota, so you can reconnect later. Unpairing a phone only removes that phone; it does not stop the Mac collector.
A reading stopped updating
Wake your Mac and check that the AI tool is still signed in. Quota keeps the last reading and marks it out of date after ten minutes. Providers that are not connected are simply not shown — you do not need all three.
What leaves your Mac?
Usage percentages, reset times, provider and plan labels, and a random pairing token, sent to Quota’s Cloudflare relay. Provider credentials are only ever used to contact the provider they belong to; they never reach the relay. Details in the privacy policy.
